For Inquiry, I researched a global issue and learned about it. I chose sexism and got a lot of information on it.
Here are just some of the facts:
- At least one law in 150 countries restricts women. That’s 8/10 countries
- 18 countries allow husbands to ban their wives from working.
- 1 in 6 girls can’t access secondary education.
- 41 countries give no legal consequences for sexual assault while working.
- Social norms are causing women to go into poverty and these norms must be changed.
- If we want to change the social norms we need to get both men and women to help.
For Maori we made koru art, we did this by sketching in pencil, outlining in a black pen, colouring in pastel, then dying the background with black dye.
